30th September 2007
Well even though Marcy celebrated his first birthday on the 23rd September it was a worrying month as he had been quite ill and losing weight daily. We were so worried as he normally would eat anything and everything at any time of day but we just couldn't get him interested in food at all. We bought everything you could think of including freshly cooked chicken but he just wasn't interested. His ribs and hip bones were beginning to protrude and there was a time when we thought we may lose him. We tried all the medicines and nothing seemed to make a difference but against our better judgment we reverted back to nature and bought him a bag of bones which after chewing for some time seemed to stimulate his taste buds so he would eat a little food .Though still not a hundred percent we celebrated his birthday with him looking much better and well on the road to full recovery.
Tufty remains her usual happy self but Dusty did go missing for a couple of days which is most unlike her but we were having the patio at the front of the villa turned into a courtyard with lights and fixed seating as you will be able to see from our September pictures page. Suker is really good and now finished it looks super. A weeks work for three men, including all materials and the bill was less than £300 including their tip. Quite different to UK prices.
It was great to meet up with Mark, Monica and family and we really enjoyed the days we had and thank them so much for their support of Animal Welfare Of Luxor - AWOL which is already going from strength to strength. Please Click Here for a newsletter page all about AWOL and do have a look at the AWOL web site as the monthly newsletter there will fill you in with more of what we have been doing throughout September.
We are currently just over half way through Ramadan so everybody is looking forward to the forthcoming feast. Though we have been very busy with AWOL we still managed to make a visit to our favourite tomb, that of Roy, though only small it is absolutely lovely. We went with Sabine late one afternoon after finishing with the animals and before all going to Africa, a place we really enjoy, for something to eat.
As always the Sheik festival on the west bank of Luxor was a wonderful show of horsemanship as you can see from the pictures on our September pictures page and also on the Animal welfare Of Luxor, September pictures page.
If you would like to meet up when you come over then do Click Here and drop us an email. If you have any room in your case and could bring some Homepride Curry Sauce (it comes in tins and we will of course pay you for anything you bring) as with what we have received recently and what is on the way to Luxor we are actually fully stocked. What joy, thank you all.
If there is anything you would like to know then do send us an e-mail. We always reply but it can take a few days as we do not have a phone at home.
Anyway that's it for another great month.
