29th February 2008
After a very poor January we are so pleased to report that the weather has finally sorted itself out. The first week of February was much colder than normal and our electricity supply very intermittent but by the time Graham's parents arrived on the 20th both the weather and our electric was back to normal. The February winds arrived but the days were lovely, warm like an English summer.
It was really nice see Steve back here, though, as a regular visitor, even he was amazed at just how cold it was on his day of arrival but thankfully it did warm up after he had been here a couple of days.
We, as part of Animal Welfare Of Luxor, continue to to make a real difference to the welfare of the animals of El Marise and Armant and really enjoy being out with the people and animals. Once home we make either head collars or harnesses for the donkeys most days.
Archeologists from many countries are back in force on the west bank with digs currently underway before it becomes too hot. Several tombs of the Nobels are being excavated and the dig at the temple of Amenhotep III (this is the temple that the Colossi of Memnon stood in front of) has resumed for the second year. It is really quite special seeing items that have not been seen for thousands of years come back to life.
With Graham's mum and dad here we are enjoying having an excuse to visit the ancient sites more regularly than we usually do and as this is their fourth visit we are doing it at a more leisurely pace.
Charlie is going through a growing spell that seems to be improving his twitch as it is nowhere near as bad as before which we are very pleased to see. Our other cats Harry and Dusty are well, with Harry so content to be home that he meows to go out the front door only to meow to come in the back door five minutes later. Dusty has a new boyfriend that brings her home after their night out. Marcy and Tufty are pleased it is warmer and though they sleep on the living room carpet all evening they are both happy to be back outside overnight.
If you would like to meet up when you come over we would love see you. Click Here for a page you can print off with our contact details and where you can meet us. If you have any room in your case and could bring a tin or two of Homepride Curry Sauce, Colmans English Mustard, Branston Pickle or sultanas. We also need some Jif or Cif or whatever they call it now as cream cleaners are just not available in Luxor. We will of course pay you for anything you bring.
