Luxor, a magical place.

We love living here in Luxor, meeting the people, learning the language, getting to grips with the culture and of course visiting all the tombs and temples. The trouble is the more we find out the less we seem to know.

Since we moved to Luxor in 2004 the number of e-mails we receive has increased dramatically, it is great to hear from everyone and we always reply, but many of the requests for information are very similar so we have covered the most frequently asked questions in these two sections.

Luxor Visitor Guide

This section covers everything that isn't Painting of the entrance to Luxor Templeancient. Visiting Luxor and worried about leaving the hotel? You really shouldn't be, whatever your rep says. Would we live in Luxor if it was unsafe .... No! So click on the "Luxor Visitor Guide Index" button on the left for general guidance, some great holiday apartments and our circular walk of central Luxor that we always enjoy. Why not print it off and take with you?

Luxor Ancient Sites

From the Theban Tomb of Roy, a Royal ScribeThis section on the Ancient Sites of Luxor will eventually cover everything but as most of our e-mails are from people who have visited all the usual sites and now want to see something different we have concentrated on the less visited places such as the private tombs of Shuroy and Roy and those at Al Khokha and the Assaif, the royal Tomb of Ay who became Pharaoh after the death of Tutankhamun and our favourite the mortuary Temple of Ramses III at Medinet Habu.
