Before AWOL and After

Through our Education and Medical work AWOL is making changes that permanently improve the lives of the animals.

Animal Welfare of Luxor is addressing a desperate need for poor farming families of non- tourist Luxor, to understand the needs and requirements of the the animals, that work so hard for their family.

AWOL is a small UK and Luxor registered Charity that works on the west bank of Luxor, outside the tourist areas in the very poor farming villages of El Marise and Armant. Though we call them villages, it is a very large area for AWOL to cover. It is hot, dirty and at times quite distressing, but also very rewarding.

AWOL is a Registered Charity both in the UK and Egypt that gives its services free of charge
to help the animals of the west bank of Luxor.

We need your support

Because AWOL never charges for its services, we are breaking the circle of ignorance. Much has been done for animal care within the tourist areas of Luxor, but there is so much more that needs to be done, as just a short distance from Luxor nothing had changed for generations. With your help, AWOL is helping the local people to make the changes to animal care, that we all need to see.

AWOL works throughout the poor farming communities of El Marise and Armant - just to the south of Luxor on the west bank of the river Nile - where we do all we can to make the lives of amongst others, dogs, horses, camels and the extremely hard working donkeys so much better, through AWOL’s work of preventative medical care and education. AWOL is a small charity that is entirely funded by voluntary donations from animal lovers like you. We do all that we can in the villages to improve the lives of the animals, but the demands on our services just keep growing. We need more supporters to raise funds, so that we can expand the area that we cover. You can help as AWOL welcomes like minded people to join us, raise awareness, and of course funds to help the community here in Luxor and especially the children, grow up with a better understanding for the animals that work so hard for them.
