We appreciate the help and support of Jan, Louie and Helen who live in Luxor and donate one day a week to help us stitch head collar components so we can fit more head collars out in the field. Paul who was in Luxor for 4 weeks was also a great help with the stitching and we look forward his return in January. |

What a change to “Puppy”. He is growing well and really happy. We check on him every week and the Egyptian family are looking after him well thanks to AWOL's guidance. What a difference to when we first saw him in October. If you missed it you can Click Here to read about him in our October Newsletter. |

This horse pulls a very big cart which was in good condition but had a head collar that was made from string which had cut into the horses head, just behind the ears and on the front of the nose. The wounds were cleaned and treated before a new head collar was made on site and the old one taken away and destroyed. |
It is clear to see what damage a simple piece of string does to the nose of a donkey so you can imagine what damage chain can do but we never put shocking pictures on the AWOL web site. This before and after picture of the same donkey shows what a difference our head collars make. |
We would like to replace every bad head collar but they do take quite a lot of time to make and we do run out so if a donkey doesn't have a major problem we continue to pack the chain with cotton wool and wrap with bandage. |

Sabine and Pauline both work on the first donkey of the day after which it was none stop for all of us. |
