Though the AWOL team spends most of their time on the west bank of Luxor we cannot forget our young friends and their animals on the east bank that Pauline and Sabine have spent so much time with. We visit them on a regular basis to ensure that they continue to look after their animals in a caring and responsible way. |

After checking the puppies and removing a few ticks Pauline makes sure that the youngsters get safely across the road. Sabine talks to little Nasser's father who asked AWOL to make him a head collar for his young foal which we were happy to do. It is really great when we can get both children and parents involved in animal care. |

On the west bank of Luxor AWOL shows a group of youngsters how to care for a puppy and this one needed some care as it was full of lice, hence the medical shampoo, and ticks which we removed one by one. Though temporally distracted by the camera the children are eager to learn and they could all see that this little puppy looked so much better. |

This photo was taken just after arriving at a regular AWOL stop on the west bank of Luxor, where as usual we had several donkeys and their owners already waiting to see us. After this it was several hours with the three of us working at full stretch as there is just so much that needs to be done. |

Educating the children in the proper care of their animals is so important and here we spent the morning in this small hamlet of a dozen or so homes showing the children how to care for their puppies before moving on to our next stop. Each family was so happy to show us their animals and even milked a cow to give the puppies extra milk. This is now one of AWOL's regular stopping places. |

Well we started with puppies on the east bank and this month we finish with puppies on the east bank. Sabine is showing a young lad how to remove ticks from his puppy whilst Pauline checks over Mustafa's puppy. This is the calm before the storm as the message was going around the village we were there. Maintaining our regular AWOL visits are so important for the future of animal care. |
