It was great
to be able to show Jan, AWOL UK
Managing Trustee, the land for the new centre.
There is much paperwork and fundraising to do before we can
move on but we will continue to work for the good of the animals,
from the side of the road, for the time being. |

Here Jan and her daughter Amy check out
what can be purchased for the animals of Luxor. We frequently
buy things for the animals here as it helps the local economy
but today we couldn't barter good prices as the owner was
away so we had to call back another day. The webbing makes
makes great harnesses and head collars. |

This will give you an idea of the housing
in the area where Animal Welfare Of Luxor carries out most
of its work. These are quite old as can be seen by the entrance
doors as they are now well below street level. This traditional
style of building is cool in summer and warm in winter. |

This little lad was really happy playing
with his homemade toy. AWOL isn't just about animals it is
about understanding the people, their needs, their worries
and gaining their trust and this starts with the children
of today who are the donkey, horse and animal owners of tomorrow. |

This cow and calf are in the shade with
plenty to eat. We have all made the decision not to put distressing
pictures on the Animal Welfare Of Luxor web site but to focus
on the positive as it is for a positive improvement in animal
welfare that we are all working for. |

Some while ago whilst exploring the area
of El marise we came across this little hamlet situated in
the middle of farming land with its own school house. 19 small
bottles of cola later and we had made many new friends from
farming families. Now we visit frequently and visited with
AWOL supporters Tony and his father Paul who took books, colouring
pencils and a much welcomed desk pencil sharpener. The teacher,
Mohammed (wearing white), and the children are always happy
with visits from AWOL. |
