This calf had several large clusters of ticks and the owner was worried. Pauline showed how to get rid of these with Vaseline, something that is available from all local chemists. We went back a couple of days later and the problem was solved. The owner and calf were both much happier. |

Literally a few meters along from the land in El Marise that AWOL will build it's small centre on is one of our regular stops. We are always busy here and on this day we had several owners waiting with their donkeys. After this picture it was all go until we finished for the day. |

We continue to frequently call in on “Puppy” who is going from strength to strength. His friend, a white dog, had an encounter with a snake which spat in its eyes. We were able to treat this and he has now made a full recovery.

| Having put so much time into animal welfare on the east bank of Luxor we make sure that we do not lose contact with the families and their animals. It is always a busy but most rewarding day. |

Sabine and Pauline sort out some collars and leads for the dogs and puppies whilst checking them for fleas, ticks and lice. Mandy, a frequent visitor, who has a business in Luxor, came with us for the day to lend a helping hand. We always make repeat visits to ensure that we do the best for the animals. |

AWOL supporter, Tony, was a great asset, helping to sew head collars and out with us in the field. He had a great way with the people and we look forward to his return. Here Pauline and Tony make a webbing ring to remove the pressure from a rather nasty wound on a donkey's back. |
