Whilst walking through the village at about 10 p.m. we came
across this horse spending the night by the heavy cart it pulls
most days. Obviously there is much we can do to help the horse but the cart was in surprisingly good condition with no metal parts that could catch the horse when it was being pulled and it moved easily.
The owners have no land and make their living from this one horse and what it can pull. When you look at the animal you must look at the owner. |

This is the owners home and we took this picture from the earth track outside looking into the kitchen of their 2 roomed home with their horse standing behind us.
Friendly and welcoming they have running water and low power electricity.
We are sure that you will agree that there is much Animal Welfare Of Luxor can do to help. |

In the midday sun a farmer sleeps whilst he has ensured that his donkeys are in the shade and have food. |

This is the built up centre of El Marise. |

A traditional El Marise farmers house made from mud brick with a donkey outside and his horse eating just to the right out of this picture.
The men are waiting for the sun to go down so that it is cool enough to continue working in the fields. |
